One month to go!

Planning sessionuntil the start of the Executive MBA for Families in Business at Kennesaw State University here in Atlanta, and we’re hard at work putting the final touches on the curriculum.

As far as I know, it’s going to be the first program anywhere that will integrate Boyd’s strategy (of operating inside customers’ and competitors’ OODA loops) into a full-up executive MBA program.

I’ll be teaching five strategy and stat modules in the opening residency and, time permitting, will blog from the course.

This is something of an experiment for me.  In the past, when people asked for an intro to Boyd’s strategy, they generally had in mind Patterns of Conflict or a presentation adopting those idea to a business environment like what I did in Certain to Win.

Reviewing the syllabus in Joe\'s officeFor this program, we’re going to be using case studies — what Vandergriff calls tactical decision games — including some focused on family business and prepared by the faculty.  We’ll also be tightly integrating the Boyd material into the rest of the course, particularly a very sophisticated interactive simulation serving the function of free play exercises in the military.  For those attending the course: It’s going to be exciting.

The faculty, shown in the photo at left, are Professors Joe Astrachan, George Manners, Gaia Marchisio, me, and Frank Adams. All of us are associated with the Cox Family Enterprise Center at KSU, rated (if I may brag a little) as one of the top six family business programs in the US by Fortune Small Business.

More later - stay tuned.

    Hi Chet,

Look what I found today! What a great website. The course at Kennesaw State University sounds awesome.

Your website is now bookmarked; it’s clear that I have a lot of great stuff to explore here. I’ll likely be doing so over the weekend. Anyway, for now, it’s back to the work of promoting my own book.

Once again, thank you for all your assistance and support.

    Best regards,

    John Roulet

    John –

Thanks! It’s going to be unique, to say the least.

John, by the way, is the author of The Supervisor Solution, and was kind enough to include my blurb on his cover.
